Can You Identify This Picture?

This is what a gallon of vanilla ice cream looks like when it gets off balance in your freezer and falls, knocking open the freezer door.  It then melts into a sticky, nauseating river of goo on your floor leading under your refrigerator.

I have no idea how many hours this took, but it was long enough for everything in my freezer to thaw out.  And the paper towel count for clean up: 1 full roll.

Ironically, I had planned on giving this ice cream away because I didn't want the temptation in my freezer.

Poor Stuart... Poor Me (Literally)

After months of drought in central Texas... it starts pouring!

And Stuart's battery dies as we try to leave work.  Oh poor Stuart!

We wait valiently in the rain for AAA, but it's a million degrees inside.

So I have to go wait outside.  In the pouring rain.  And the next day I have to replace the battery, which means that, literally, it is now poor, poor me.

Wreck Tech!

A couple of pics from the UT vs Texas Tech Game on 9/19/09.  I forgot to recharge my camera battery so there are only two that came out well.  This is unfortunate because 1) it was a great game 2) Cindy and I were almost run over by Shipley (our receiver) during a touchdown and then he did run into Bevo 3) the other team's mascot, the Red Raider, was obnoxious and harassed me during the third quarter.  All of these things would have been nice to catch on film.  Ce la vie!

Thanks Mom! Um... thanks Dad?

My mom sent me this because she doesn't shop at Victoria's Secret.

And then she sent me a second one because my dad wouldn't need it either.

Under Arrest

I was reading an article on AOL today about a woman in Europe who was arrested on a really old warrant that she thought had been cleared up a long time ago.

I have databases for things like unclaimed funds, but I wondered if there was a way to check for outstanding warrants. You would think that you would know, but what if you didn't until you tried to leave the country or some other high stress situation?

A quick Google search revealed that apparently most states offer some way of looking arrest warrants under the Freedom of Information Act, but the sites that offered to do it were all .com and not government, with which I am not comfortable.

So if anyone knows of an online database for outstanding warrants, please let me know. Not that I think I have any outstanding warrants. It's not like I go around stealing begonias.

Side Pocket: C.W.P.

I adore my friends.  And the most interesting and amusing things that happen in my life don't really happen to me, they happen to my friends.  So I think I will be incorporating more of my friends' stories into this blog.  I may or may not have their permission to do this.
Side Pocket 1 comes from my friend C.W.P. who is also in student affairs.  In her words:

Um, I just had a student get within 3 inches of my face (she had to lean over my desk to do this), ask me if my dad is Chinese, got a little indigent that I don't speak Chinese and then asked if I was a senior in college because I look 19.  How many seniors in college have an office with their name on the door?
